Presidents intro – Thanks to all who came out to the RBR, and all who volunteered. There were no accidents on the rides, only 1 flat tire.

Riders Ed – Jeff Berg will be stepping down, Thank you Jeff for all the hard work you have done over the years.
Chris Carlson has accepted the position.
There is interest for a group of women to have their own ERC class, need 6 minimum, 12 maximum for a class.

Road Captain – Thank you all for volunteering at the RBR. We only had 1 flat tire, no accidents.

Legislative Reports -
MN – there is an upcoming primary August 10th, this is the election to determine who is on the ballot in November. You are all encouraged to question your candidates if they support your issues. If you will be gone Aug 10th because you are out of town, make sure to vote absentee.
WI – federally they are trying to pass a federal helmet law. It is very important to find out who your candidates are to see where they stand.

PR – Lisa Lundmark is considering stepping down. If this position interests you, please see Dwight.

Webmaster – we are working on getting it cleaned up. Dave Eiynck has come back to help.

Newsletter – Deadline Sept 15th. We do have a letters to the editor column, if you have a question or concern, comment, send it in!! The newsletter is now available on the website!

Chili Feed – We have received $4000 from Miller, and we do have the vending machine. There will be a short Chili Feed meeting after todays GMM. Tickets will be in this week.

Motion to pay for a brick in memory of Diane Mackenzie at Sturgis after the Chili Feed. Cost to be around $75-125. MSP

There was a hat passed around, and instead of waiting, we collected enough money to purchase a granite brick in her memory now, rather than later. Thank you to all who donated!!

Wed Sept 8th, Bellchester MN 7pm AIR is having their bi-annual legislative forum. You are all welcome to come.

July 31st SCVR ride leaves from Fury motorcycle. (Getting’ Ziggy with it) More information will be posted on the website as the date nears.

There will be a change in motorcycle safety class reimbursements beginning 01-01-11; we will reimburse up to 20% above the least expensive of the MN/WI state recognized training course.

Legislative – MN: Fail to yield did not make it this year. You can now have a vertical plate as long as you get a collector plate. This will cost you more. Make sure to talk to your legislators if you have issues. Since 1977 MN has not had a governor who has not signed a helmet repeal law. There will be a new governor next year.
WI: Everything is out of session right now. 2010 grant $$ is in place.
PR – PSA announcement on KQ. We need help editing and producing safety video.

MRF report: NTSA is looking at sensor devises to detect motorcycles at stoplights. Bikers in the beltway was a success. Vertical license plates can be ordered at DVS 08-01-10. If interested in joining the MRF see Charlie Dowell. MOTM will be in Peoria IL in September.
We have been asked to donate $250 to Hogs for Dogs. This ride is no longer Harley only. There is a freeze on donations until after the RBR. Motion to donate $250 to Hogs for dogs as long as we make $250 profit. Friendly amendment to the motion so we must make $500 at the RBR. Accepted. MSP

Presidents intro- Welcome to the meeting. There is a Chili Feed meeting today after the general meeting. MRF is our watchdog at the federal level We really need them. They have a paid lobbiest, an office in DC. They are in a financial crunch. We are co-hosting their national conference (Meeting of the Minds) this year with ABATE of MN in Bloomington MN. SCVR will pay for your admission to the conference, you pay for your hotel/banquet. We have some donation letters for MOTM, please take one and drop off at your local businesses.

WI – legislators have worked out the 2010 budget. They have cut funding for MC safety programs. MC endorsements are on the rise. We need those safety programs more than ever!

Legislative Reports
MN – Primary seatbelt law has passed. The press has been pushing the question of a helmet law. SCVR works with the MRF to lobby at the federal level. There are 175,000 endorsed riders in MN. We can make some business cards with pointers about why we do not need a helmet law. Minor bill on HIPPA reform (HR 1253) has passed congress. Does not take loophole out, but it does make it so the insurance companies have to disclose what they are not going to cover.
It is illegal to drive a car with a helmet because it reduces vision and impairs hearing.
WI- There is nothing new in WI, the assembly is closed.

John Fowler was always helping at the Chili Feed. Huge supporter of the SCVR. There will be a benefit at the Gas Lite Tavern June 27th. The bar will supply the food. We are looking for bands. We need silent auction items. All proceeds will go to John.

Most miles competition will give bonus miles if you come to the John Fowler benefit.

July 26th Ronald McDonald run is going through a town where there are a lot of AIR members. They are willing to give us space for a booth.
Old Timers MC were out on a group ride. 9 bikes went down.
We will get dial a ride business cards at the next meeting.
Ray Miller is an ordained minister. Will do blessings of the bikes/ weddings/ vow renewals.
MOTM 2009 donation forms are available. Take a few and find some business who are willing to donate auction items/cash/hospitality room items.
Any member who wants to go to the sessions, we will pay for the admission.
We collected $300 today for John Fowler today at the meeting.
